Jor Ros grew up moving back and forth between Mexico and the U.S. and would spend his free time making up characters and creating fictional universes though his drawings. Today, the Barcelona-based artist has developed a portfolio of digital illustrations that imagine the contemporary urban samurai warrior, borrowing the motifs and aesthetic hallmarks of traditional Japanese folklore and American cartoons through a warm, eye grabbing palette. Nothing says Sector 9 Bamboo quite like colorful, island vibes. We wanted to revive some of our Bamboo roots (get it?... ‘cause it’s a weed) and thought someone living the island lifestyle would be ideal for creating this collection. With that in mind, we collaborated with waterman and artist Kenny Vidinich, head of OneVibe Creative Studios, which is located on the waters of Maunalua Bay in east Honolulu, O'ahu. Taking inspiration from the local flora and fauna, Kenny created some amazingly detailed and colorful illustrations that pop on the sectional black dips.
